SharkPack Tickets
So this year I was going to be a responsible southern California fan and watch most of the SJ home games via Center Ice. I had decided not to renew my SharkPack (10 games) and figured my cousins and I could just purchase tickets to a few home games whenever I could make my way back up north. Well, that worked well for about 1 week - until I saw the e-mail from SVSE reminding me I had a "non-refundable" deposit down on tickets. Needless to say, my cousins and I are not the proud "lessors" of two seats. I did consider buying a season ticket package too, but since I'll be attending most of the (Sharks fans, cover your eyes) Ducks games thanks to my buddy, (Ok, you can open them again) I figured that would just not make any sense. That and I'm still broke from my trip to England. Maybe one of these years after I finish grad school. Oh well.
Long, Hot Summer
Free Agency:
So, a whole summer waiting. A whole summer reading fan sites calling for the Sharks Management's head because they didn't spend all the way up to the cap to get a big-name d-man. Personally, I think they tried, but didn't get the guys they wanted. And rather spend money on a lesser-quality d-man, just to appease the fans, so far, management has decided to wait. And I'm OK with that. I'd rather they take the wait and see attitude and then do a trade later on in the season, or at least closer to the start of the regular season. Yeah, there are some holes in the Sharks depth chart, but I have confidence that the team will fill them when it makes sense to do so.
Uniforms & Logo:
So, a while summer waiting. A whole summer reading fan sites calling for the Sharks to change back to the original colors & logo because change isn't good. I even read where someone was whining that some of the teams did this purposely for the money. I'm sure that's in there somewhere, but regarding the sweaters, that was league-mandated, at least the change to the rbk system. So, if you're gonna make that change, you might as well make the uni change (if necessary) at the same time. Now admittedly, I don't think the Sharks needed to make a change. I do like the new Shark logo, but the one with the tail could be tweaked to have a real Sharks tail, not the sideways thing they put on it. And I'm not gonna whine about a uniform change before I've seen it. So stay tuned....that could be down the pike here fairly soon.
